Freya Kristensen
I am a PhD student in the department Geography at Simon Fraser University and a researcher with the Centre for Sustainable Community Development. My research interests centre around the role of global networks of local governments in facilitating sustainable development at the local level. I am also a researcher on the Meeting the Climate Change Challenge project (www.mc-3.ca), which is looking at why some communities have been successful at implementing climate change and sustainability-related initiatives and figuring out how to transfer learning from those communities elsewhere. Prior to starting my PhD, I spent almost two years with the Columbia Institute’s Centre for Civic Governance, a non-profit organization that works to engage locally-elected officials around social and environmental issues.
